Mrs. Edna Middleton-Hunt was born a survivor of twins on October 24, 1951 and the youngest of one brother and one sister. She was raised in North Newark, N.J. by strict Carolina parents, the late Lettie Jackson-Middleton and the late James Middleton. At a very early age, she became a member of the choir and the Sunday School Department at Bethlehem Baptist church located on North 4th Street, Newark, N.J. where Reverend Glover presided.
Years later, Edna joined The Baptist Church at 21 Conger Street, Bloomfield, N.J. where Reverend Smith presided. As she sung like Mahalia and ushered for years, her parents felt the need to move on.
In 1965, when her mother became a widow and she followed her footsteps and joined Union Baptist Church at 61 North 4th street where Reverend George L. Ray was the Pastor. After being baptized Edna sung as soloist in the choir and rarely missed going to Sunday School for about 9 years. There she was married to the late Dorian Williams by Rev. Ray.
In May of 1974 I graduated Essex County College with an Associate in Arts & Sciences Degree. Also, in 1974, I faced many battles, such as, a single parent, drug addictions, and drug rehabilitation yet, she survived. After working for the Newark Board of Education over 20 years, she became physically challenged with Dialysis due to Kidney Failure.
In 1996, Edna became a member at Second Friendship, now Friendship Ministries, Inc. where Bishop-Elect Gerald A. Edwards presides as Pastor. With determination and zeal, I attend Bible Study Class and Sunday School. There Edna was nominated as Assistant Teacher of the Junior Class and over the years has elevated to Asst. Superintendent of Church School. . As a late bloomer, under the teachings of an anointed man of God, she heard, studied, applied God’s word in her lifestyle and utilizes the power of his teachings through prayer at all times. While answering God's call to Outreach Ministry and HIV/AIDS Ministry, a woman of God attended and graduated New York Theological Seminary on May 28, 2006 with a certificate in Ministry.
Now, married to Mr. Lowell Hunt she is a mother of two strong Christian adults, Maurice Williams and Shanita Hunt and with three grandchildren she still continues doing God’s work. Edna has also wrote and published a book of poetry and story titled “The Desires I Acquired with God”.
Recently, God has birthed a ministry in Minister Hunt named MammaEdna’s Voice at www.MammaEdnasVoice.org . So as she goes on faithfully pressing her way in obedience to God and His Son Jesus by loving, witnessing, encouraging, teaching and preaching to all God's people, her answer is YES GOD, I’M AVAILABLE TO YOU.
Minister Edna Hunt’s mission is to do the work of Kingdom Building for God while speaking those things that are not as if they were and following the vision God has given her Bishop at Friendship Ministries, Inc. Also, on February 28, 2008, God heard her prayers and made a way for a kidney donor. Her heartfelt words are “I owe everything to Jesus!” During the month of March 2019 she was ordained at Friendship Ministries, Inc. by
Bishop Gerald A. Edwards & Assistant Pastor Scott K. Williams.
With the seed of God thriving in her, I introduce to you a woman of God, a mother, a singer, preacher, teacher, writer and poet laureate & Ordained Minister, Edna Hunt.
